Department of Mechanical and Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2017. The department currently offers an undergraduate program; B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering. The Department has requisite number of faculty members, striving to incorporate excellence in theory, practice and research. Undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering at CBIT start with the innovative, which gives students a solid foundation in core disciplines like mechanics, manufacturing, and systems, together with essential areas of mathematics and physical sciences.

The laboratories in the department include Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machinery, Thermal Engineering, Heat Transfer, Metallurgy and Instrumentation, Workshop, Manufacturing Technology, Automation and Robotics, Machine Tools, Metrology etc., All these laboratories are well equipped to learn by doing. Continuous research is a norm in the department and the papers authored by faculty and students get published in leading national and international journals and are presented at several national/international conferences. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has congenial environment for study, supported by stimulating education and research. The programs offered by the department of Mechanical Engineering are intended to prepare students for successful careers and lifelong learning in Mechanical Engineering.


To impart knowledge in ever-changing Mechanical Engineering to promote highly competent, innovative and ethical Mechanical professionals through excellence in teaching, training and research.


To provide opportunities for students to work on the different kinds of hardware and software platforms prevalent in industry, with the objective of being responsive to industries’ needs, the programme goes beyond the curriculum prescribed by the University.

PEO1: CBIT Graduates shall have strong foundation in Computer Science and Engineering along with advance knowledge on contemporary technologies and devise solutions for realistic and social issues in the society.

PEO2: Graduates shall be employed in software and hardware industries or pursue higher studies or research or become entrepreneurs.

PEO3: Graduates shall overcome cultural differences through teamwork, good communication and high patterns of discipline.

Program outcomes are precise statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These Statements relate to the skills, knowledge and behaviors that students acquire the program. PO1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principlesof mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5.Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6.The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7.Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.mBR>
