Laboratories
Engineering Workshop Lab
Engineering Workshop is a central facility for all B.Tech first year. It carries the four different sections to offer regular practical classes to B.Tech first year students
- Carpentry shop
- Fitting shop
- Sheet metal shop
- House wiring Shop
Engineering Workshop practice is the backbone of the real industrial environment which provide exposure to the students with hands on experience on various basic engineering practices in Mechanical Engineering. Irrespective of branch, the use of workshop practices in day to day industrial as well domestic life helps to dissolve the real life problems.
Mechanics of Materials Lab
The objective of the Mechanics of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic principles in the area of determining the strength of materials under externally applied loads and mechanics of materials and structural analysis to the undergraduate students through a series of experiments.
This would enable the student to have a clear understanding of the design for strength and stiffness.
Materials Science & Engineering Lab
Materials Science & Engineering lab deals with relationship between the structure and the properties of various materials such as ferrous and non ferrous materials like Cast Irons, Steels, Aluminium and copper alloys etc. This laboratory also enables the knowledge on atomic structures of materials and probable imperfections using various prototypes. Moreover, with the support of different equipment as well as machines, students are inspired to examine the microstructural changes with respect to heat treatment processes and assess the resulting properties.
Manufacturing Processes Lab
Manufacturing technology laboratory is aimed at providing an introduction to the importance of fundamental principles of manufacturing processes used in industries for manufacturing the components in a controlled manner. The emphasis throughout the laboratory course will be on understanding the basic features of the processes such as casting, welding and sand testing equipment.
This lab will demonstrate practical knowledge to the students for making mould with the help of various patterns and also provide fundamental knowledge on the use of Injection moulding, blow moulding arc/gas welding, & sheet metal forming processes.
Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Lab
To have hands-on experience in flow measurements using different devices and also perform calculations related to losses in pipes and also perform characteristic study of pumps, turbines etc.
Applied Thermodynamics Lab
This course aims to provide a good platform to mechanical Engineering student’s transformation to prepare them to carry out experimental investigation and analysis at later stages of graduation. To understand, model and appreciate Concept of dynamics involved in Thermal energy.
After learning, students can understand difference between working of SI and CI engines, evaluate parameters of emissions and understand performance parameters of different engines.
Heat Transfer Lab
The laboratory course is aimed to provide fundamental and industrial knowledge about modes of heat transfer, like conduction, convection and radiation, and their application and also to provide the practical exposure to the students with regard to the determination of amount of heat exchange in various modes of heat transfer including condensation & boiling for several geometries, Determination of heat transfer rate through a lagged pipe.
Metrology & Measurements Lab
- To familiar with different measurement instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometer, Bevel Protractor, Gear Tooth Vernier, Lever Dial Gauge, GO-NO Gauges, Profile Projector, Electric Comparator, Surface Roughness Tester etc and use of this industry for quality inspection.
- This lab provides an accurate means of assessing the suitability of measuring instruments, their calibration, and the quality control of various components. These days, metrological error has a far greater impact on cost.
- The calibration exercises enable the students to find the errors involved in the measurement process.
Manufacturing Technology Lab
The Manufacturing Technology Lab is equipped with conventional machines such as Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinding, Drilling machine, Shaping etc., Machining and Machine tool will always be key components of a manufacturing system.
- To Study and practice the various operations that can be performed in lathe, shaper, etc. and to equip with the practical knowledge required in the core industries.
- To Study and acquire knowledge on various basic machining operations in special purpose machines and its applications in real life manufacture of components in the industry.
CAD/CAM Lab
The aim to establish this laboratory for practical training in the field of CAD (Computer Aided Designing) & CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing). Fortunately, advances in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and computer hardware performance have enabled the use of virtual models.
- To develop the skill to use software to create 2D and 3D models.
- To give exposure to software tools needed to analyse engineering problems.
- To expose the students to different applications of simulation and analysis tools.
- To develop the skill of CNC manual part program and simulation practice in CNC TURN and CNC Mill
