Venkateswarlu Challa is currently working as the Head – R&D at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Proddatur, YSR Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. He has built a strong academic and research profile through various prestigious fellowships, scholarships, and national-level research engagements. He received the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India-funded Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA) for five years during his Ph.D. at NIT Tiruchirappalli, an Institution of National Importance. Earlier, he was awarded the MoE-funded Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) during his M.Tech. at NIT Warangal. He was also selected twice for the Indo-German Centre for Sustainability (IGCS) Scholarship, funded by DAAD and RWTH Aachen University, Germany, to participate in international research programs on sustainable water management.

He received the Gold Medal as the Department Topper in Civil Engineering in his B.Tech. at RGUKT Nuzvid, along with the prestigious Pratibha Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. His professional memberships further demonstrate his active engagement with the global research community. He is a Member of esteemed international organisations such as the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Geophysical Union (AGU), American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and the Rural Water Supply Network (RWSN).

His research interests span several critical domains in water resources engineering. These include Integrated Water Resources Management, climate change impact assessment on water systems, sustainable surface and groundwater quality modelling, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, rainfall–runoff modelling using soft computing techniques, and groundwater flow modelling. His journal works include articles in the Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management(Q1 – SCIE) of the ASCE and Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (Q2 – SCIE), demonstrating strong scholarly impact. He has authored multiple Springer book chapters in the Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering series.

In addition to these publications, he has presented his research at several reputed international conferences such as HYDRO 2023 (NIT Warangal, India – Offline), ICOE 2023 (RWTH Aachen University, Germany – Hybrid), IAHR-APD 2022 (IIT Madras, India – Offline), DEVA-2022 (NIT Warangal, India – Online), and SWAT 2022 (CZU Prague, Czech Republic – Hybrid). His work was also showcased at global platforms through poster presentations at the AGU Fall Meetings held in San Francisco, USA (Online Poster Session, 2023) and Washington D.C., USA (Asynchronous Online Presentation, 2024), highlighting his active engagement with the international scientific community.
